Every writer is different, so how I work with you depends completely on your needs as a writer. I find that it works best to define the process we’ll use after discussing your particular writing project, goals, and concerns. You may want me to work with you on defining a project and understanding organization and development possibilities long before you ever put fingers to keyboard. For example, I have worked with clients on books and dissertations over months and even years as they’ve developed their projects from ideas alone to published works. Others come to me with finished drafts of small projects and large (from memos to book manuscripts) that they just want to have reviewed by a professional. You can decide the kind and amount of consultation and editing that best fits your own writing needs. I also edit books for publishers. Even in this work, I find that consulting with authors on their particular intent and expectations nearly always improves the finished product, so I like to work closely with authors to help create the best books possible. I firmly believe that writers are people who write. Some of you write professionally in your business or academic life, others write in hopes of publishing and selling articles or books, and still others of you write simply to create a record of your lives to share with your children and grandchildren. You do not have to have publishing credentials to be a writer; instead, you simply have to have the will to put ideas on paper. I am based in Colorado (Mountain Time Zone) and have local clients whom I enjoy working with face-to-face. But the majority of my clients live across the country and even in Europe. I’m happy to say that communication by email and phone works extremely well in nearly all cases. |
